(Baonghean.vn) - 105 years ago, on June 5, 1911, at Nha Rong Wharf, Saigon - Gia Dinh City (now Ho Chi Minh City), the patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh, who was just 21 years old at the time, boarded the ship named Amiral La Touche De Treville, to find a way to save the country.

The patriotic young man Nguyen Tat Thanh greatly admired and respected the brave and resilient patriotism of his predecessors and soon realized that the path opened by his predecessors would not liberate the nation, but that it was necessary to have a new path in accordance with the laws of historical development to regain independence and freedom for the nation; he had to go abroad to see how France and other independent countries developed in order to return to help our compatriots and our country escape oppression and slavery.

With the determination to find a new way to save the country, the young man Nguyen Tat Thanh walked from Phan Thiet, overcoming the harsh weather, sometimes fainting from hunger, fatigue, and thirst to reach Saigon, looking for an opportunity to realize that burning intention. Arriving in Saigon, Nguyen Tat Thanh quickly found a technical school managed by the French, where Vietnamese sailors were taught about maritime navigation, cargo transportation, etc. During those days, he often went to Saigon port. The image of ships anchored at the port made him uneasy.

And on June 5, 1911, on the ship Amiral La Touche De Treville from Saigon port, introducing himself as Van Ba and asking to be a kitchen assistant, Nguyen Tat Thanh left the Fatherland, starting a 30-year journey to find a way to liberate the nation and the country. At that time, no one knew that the fate of the Vietnamese people was tied to the decision to leave of a man whose history has proven to be extraordinarily wise.

During the 10 years from 1911 to 1920, he took advantage of every opportunity to visit many places in the world. His footprints were imprinted on many countries in the continents of Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. In particular, he stopped to survey for quite a long time in the 3 largest imperialist countries at that time: America, England, and France.

During his trips, he took advantage of every opportunity to learn and research revolutionary theories, and immersed himself in the practical struggles of the working class and laborers in capitalist and colonial countries. From there, he supplemented himself with extremely rich knowledge and a very broad and comprehensive vision. From there, he concluded that imperialism and colonialism were the source of all suffering for the working class and people in both the mother country and the colonies.

It was patriotism, along with years of tireless research into theory and activities in the international workers' movement, that led the young Vietnamese man Nguyen Tat Thanh, despite all dangers, to come to Marxism-Leninism, participate in the founding of the French Communist Party in late 1920, and become the outstanding international activist Nguyen Ai Quoc.

Early realizing the inevitable development trend of history and the nature of the new era opened by the October Revolution, he determined the correct path to save the country and liberate the nation, discovering the historical truth: "Only socialism and communism can liberate oppressed peoples and workers around the world from slavery."

He wrote: “Lenin’s thesis made me so moved, excited, enlightened, and confident! I was so happy that I cried. Sitting alone in my room, I spoke loudly as if I were speaking before a large crowd: “My miserable and suffering compatriots! This is what we need, this is the path to our liberation!” From then on, I completely believed in Lenin, in the Third International.”

From 1921 to 1930, Nguyen Ai Quoc tried his best to spread Marxism-Leninism to the workers' movement and the Vietnamese patriotic movement, preparing the theory for the birth of the Communist Party of Vietnam. With the works "The Verdict of the French Colonial Regime" and "The Revolutionary Path", especially the publication of the Thanh Nien newspaper on June 21, 1925, he prepared the political path to move towards the establishment of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

During this time, he also focused on preparing the organization and cadres by establishing the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association (1925), organizing many cadre training courses and sending them to study in the Soviet Union... When the conditions for establishing the Party were ripe, on February 3, 1930, under the chairmanship of comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc in Hong Kong (China), the conference to unify the three Communist organizations agreed to establish a unified party, the Communist Party of Vietnam.

In the spring of 1941, after more than 30 years of wandering abroad, far from the Fatherland, on January 28, 1941, he returned to the country to directly lead the struggle for national liberation. He pointed out that, in the specific conditions of Vietnam, the only path to follow was the path of national democratic revolution led by the vanguard party of the working class to overthrow imperialism and colonialism, gain national independence, and then move forward to carry out the socialist revolution.

On May 19, 1941, in the middle of the Pac Bo mountainous region, under the initiative of leader Nguyen Ai Quoc, the Viet Minh Front was born at a time when the Vietnamese people were groaning under the yoke of one neck and two yokes, and the fate of the nation was in a state of boiling water and fire. The establishment and activities of the Viet Minh became the fundamental factor deciding the victory of the August Revolution in 1945.

It has been more than 45 years since Uncle Ho passed away, but in the hearts of Vietnamese generations, he still lives forever. His thoughts and shining moral example always illuminate the revolutionary path in every step of the country. Recalling President Ho Chi Minh's journey to save the country 105 years ago, each of us deeply engraves in our hearts infinite gratitude for the great sacrifices that Uncle Ho went through during the 30 years of searching for a way to save the country.
