However, when Thanh and Nhien were transporting drugs from Tuong Duong and Quang Nam, they were arrested by the anti-drug crime force of Nghe An Provincial Police. According to Thanh and Nhien's statements, the anti-drug crime police department (PC47) went to Tuong Duong to arrest Luong Ba Duy, but this subject quickly escaped.

Truong Quang Thanh was later sentenced to 18 years in prison by the People's Court of Nghe An province, and Hoang Van Nhien was sentenced to 15 years in prison in a trial held on July 23, 2015. Luong Ba Duy was wanted nationwide by PC47 for illegal drug trafficking.

After a period of disappearance from the locality, Luong Ba Duy suddenly returned, not to surrender to receive leniency from the law but to establish a mobile drug dealer system right at Doc Moi. There was information that Luong Ba Duy was infected with HIV, so the provincial police leaders assigned the task to Tuong Duong District Police to arrest the subject, while ensuring the safety of the forces participating in the investigation.

All movements of Luong Ba Duy were put under the surveillance of the investigation team. At around 1:00 p.m. on June 21, 2016, intelligence information said that Luong Ba Duy was present at his father-in-law's house in Cap Chang village, Yen Tinh commune (Tuong Duong). At that time, Duy was carrying a K59 gun, 2 sport guns, and no grenades or homemade mines as usual.

Determining that this was the time to solve the case, the Task Force was determined to arrest the suspect immediately. Two good detectives were ordered to find a way to approach the suspect. Around Duy's father-in-law's house, the Task Force arranged an ambush force to promptly support or prevent Duy from trying to escape into the forest.

After successfully controlling and arresting Luong Ba Duy, Dau Trong Cuong and Nguyen Van Lam received first aid for their injuries and were taken to the provincial Preventive Medicine Center for treatment of HIV exposure. The case is currently being further investigated by the Tuong Duong District Police.
