Journey of an orphan girl from the West to become Miss Asia World
Nguyen Thi Chi won Miss Asia World thanks to her balanced body, fashion show experience and clever responses.
The Miss Asia World finals concluded in Lebanon on the evening of June 29 (local time), with the crown going to Vietnamese representative Nguyen Thi Chi. This is the first international beauty pageant she has participated in. The beauty from Vinh Long won first runner-up Miss Charming Ao Dai 2017 and second runner-up Vietnam Fashion Model 2018.

Before the exam, she followed a diet of meat, fish, green vegetables, fruits, limiting starch, oil, and saturated fat.
Nguyen Thi Chi is 27 years old this year, 1.72 m tall, weighs 48 kg, and has measurements of 86 - 58 - 90 cm. She went to Lebanon alone to compete on June 9.
She took the opportunity to explore the local beauty and actively talked to the contestants from the very beginning. A Vietnamese contestant with a Venezuelan beauty - her roommate - at a charity fundraising party. "Most of the contestants were friendly, approachable and professional when entering the competition rounds," Nguyen Thi Chi shared.
The competition schedule was quite tight, with contestants sometimes having to stay up until 2am the next morning. After two weeks, Nguyen Thi Chi lost 5kg due to anxiety and not being able to adapt to the local food.

For the national costume competition, she prepared an ao dai weighing more than 20 kg, inspired by the peacock, with a crown decorated with 99 real peacock feathers. However, a few hours before the final night, she shared on her personal page a photo of the costume being torn by someone else for unknown reasons.
The beauty replaced it with a white ao dai and a conical hat that she had prepared in advance.
Nguyen Thi Chi wore a see-through beaded dress in the final night. She chose pastel colors to highlight her fair skin. After three rounds of bikini, national costume, and evening gown, she, along with contestants from Turkey and Russia, made it into the top 3 in the behavioral round.
When asked why she thought she deserved to be crowned, Nguyen Chi replied that because she was an orphan at a young age, she learned how to help others with compassion - the most important factor of a beauty queen besides beauty.
Beating 23 other contestants, she won the contest and the talent award with a magic act. The beauty was surprised because she was originally expected to win the runner-up prize. "I am satisfied with the effort I put in," she shared. After the final night, Nguyen Thi Chi stayed in Lebanon to participate in some activities as the new beauty queen. On July 4, she returned to Vietnam to do charity work.
This is the first time Vietnam has a representative crowned Miss Asia World, the previous two times were Thailand and Nepal. The contest is for contestants from Asian countries and neighboring regions (Middle East, Europe...) to learn about the diverse cultures of each country.
