The teams that qualified for the UAE include: UAE (H), Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Uzbekistan, Jordan, Syria, Oman, Bahrain, Palestine, Lebanon, Turkmenistan, India, Thailand, Vietnam.

In the first match of the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers played on a neutral field, despite taking the lead thanks to a goal by Van Toan, coach Nguyen Huu Thang and his team could not maintain the advantage, allowing Afghanistan to tie 1-1 in the 2019 Asian Cup qualifiers.

It was a match where the opponent took advantage of the time when the Vietnam team was playing with one less player because Dinh Luat received care from the medical team. Before that, the Vietnamese players created a series of dangerous opportunities in front of the Afghanistan goal.

In the second match, Coach Huu Thang and his team returned to Thong Nhat Stadium to welcome Jordan. Both teams created countless opportunities but the excellence of goalkeeper Van Lam and goalkeeper Jordan brought the match to a 0-0 draw.

After coach Huu Thang resigned as head coach of the national team, coach Mai Duc Chung took over as interim coach of the Vietnam national team in their visit to Cambodia. Trong Hoang's assist helped Van Quyet open the scoring, helping Vietnam get off to a smooth start. However, the other team easily equalized 1-1 with a goal from Vathanaka. Fortunately, Quang Hai played the hero role, helping the home team get all 3 points with a tricky header.

Returning home in the second leg against Cambodia, coach Mai Duc Chung's players had a much easier match as they poured a rain of goals into the opponent's net. Players Dinh Thanh Trung, Van Quyet, Anh Duc, Cong Phuong, and Mac Hong Quan took turns scoring to help Vietnam win 5-0.

Finally, a lucky and hard-fought draw against Afghanistan was enough for Vietnam to secure an early ticket to the first round with 9 points, ranking second after the final opponent, Jordan.

In Southeast Asia, in addition to Thailand and Vietnam who have already secured tickets, the Philippines and Myanmar still have a chance in the final round, the remaining teams Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, East Timor, and Brunei have officially become spectators of the continent's biggest playground./.
