The journey to the second prize of the youth competition to study and follow Uncle Ho of the beautiful female student of Phan school
(Baonghean.vn) - In order to achieve high results in the contest "Youth studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", Nguyen Nhat Vy spent nearly 3 years preparing. That was also the time when she grew up and learned many meaningful things from the simple lessons that Uncle Ho left behind.
An exam is a history lesson.
Nguyen Nhat Vy is a student in class 12C2 - History class of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted. Vy admits that History was not her first choice.
Before that, Vy took the entrance exam to the Literature class but luck was not on her side and she only got enough points to enter the History class. Without any foundation, in the early days of getting acquainted with History, Vy encountered many difficulties and was at a disadvantage compared to many other students in the class.

However, later on, Vy learned a lot from her friends: Most of the students in the History class were excellent students in middle school, so when they started studying History, they had more opportunities to develop their abilities. Seeing my friends exchange lessons and comment on an event or a historical issue, I felt very excited and it was my friends who instilled a passion for History in me, helping me to change from being afraid to being passionate about this subject - Vy shared.
There is one special thing, although Vy majored in History, she chose to take the university entrance exam in block D with a combination of 3 subjects: Math - Literature - English. However, in grade 11, Vy was still chosen as a memberNational Excellent Student TeamIn grade 12, I won second prize in the provincial History competition.

Nguyen Nhat Vy is nurturing a dream of entering the National Economics University. Although choosing to take the university entrance exam in block D (Literature - Math - English), Nguyen Nhat Vy still studied well in History and won second prize in the province's excellent History student competition and was a member of the school's national excellent student selection team. Studying History, Vy and her classmates knew about the contest “Youth study and follow Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, and style” very early. Learning about this contest, Vy realized that this is a contest that requires a lot of comprehensive knowledge from Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality, style, History, Geography, Vietnam’s seas and islands, etc.
To be able to grasp each issue, Vy applies the same method as learning History in class, following a system and will learn to understand, not to learn by rote or memorize. Talking about this, Vy added: There is a lot of content related to President Ho Chi Minh, but each saying, each story about Uncle Ho is related to a different event, a different historical period. Therefore, I will connect the events together to be able to understand the issue easily and quickly.

Before becoming the sole representative of Nghe An province to participate in the final round of the contest “Youth studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style”, Vy had to go through the school round and surpass 5,000 other contestants across the province with many direct elimination rounds. To have the final victory, the second prize with a fairly high score (270/290) points, Vy shared “this is really not easy”. That is because Vy had prepared for nearly 3 years and had participated in the contest twice. The first time was in grade 11 and Vy entered the semi-finals and was one of the top 5 contestants in the province.
“I am personally not surprised that Vy got such a high score because she is smart and had a very clear strategy during the exam. Instead of studying in a scattered manner, Vy reviewed and divided the exam content into separate topics. Based on that, she will review scientifically and firmly.
During the test, because the results of the contest are calculated based on two criteria: accuracy and time, Vy answered the questions scientifically. For questions she did not know, she would circle them to move on to other questions that were easier to score points. Vy's record was in the semi-finals, she answered 30 questions online in just 1 minute and 10 seconds.
Sharing more about this contest, Nguyen Nhat Vy said that she had two pressures, the first was from her seniors because before that, two students from Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted competed and both won first prize. The second was the pressure of time and in order to solve the questions quickly, accurately and correctly, Vy had to practice every day, taking advantage of every moment.

In addition to being a good student, Nguyen Nhat Vy (standing in the first row, first from left) is also the secretary of the Youth Union and has been a team leader for many years in high school. This female student participates in many cultural and artistic activities at school and this school year has just achieved the title of 3 Good Students at the provincial level. Photo: NVCC |
Near the final round, Vy stayed up until 2 or 3 a.m. many nights and had almost memorized some books about Uncle Ho, especially the book “The Autographs and Full Testament of President Ho Chi Minh”. During the days participating in the contest, Vy also learned a lot of things and the teachings and thoughts that Uncle Ho left behind brought Vy many useful and meaningful lessons that she can apply in her studies, daily life and even in her future orientation.
Spread the contest about Uncle Ho
In addition to the homeroom teacher, accompanying Nguyen Nhat Vy during the competition was Ms. Le Kim Long - a Civic Education teacher and the person directly assigned by the school to be in charge of this competition. Ms. Le Kim Long is also very lucky with the competition because from the time she was not officially assigned to the task until she became the main instructor, all 3 contestants from Phan Boi Chau High School representing the province to participate in this competition achieved high prizes with 2 First prizes and 1 Second prize. Up to this point, after 4 times of organization, Nghe An is the province with the highest achievement in the category for high school students.

To achieve the above results, teacher Le Kim Long shared that success is difficult to achieve without investment, care and especially without the support of students. In fact, at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, although there are many important exams each year, the contest "Youth studying and following the moral example and ideology of Ho Chi Minh" always has the participation of a large number of students of the school. That is also the motivation for Ms. Long and her colleagues to devote a lot of enthusiasm to the contest and be ready to "overcome difficulties" with students to reach the final destination, the national final round, confidently winning the prize.
The contest spans several months and has many different rounds. As it progresses, the questions become more varied and more difficult.
During the students' participation in the contest, the teachers in the group and I tried to build a set of over 500 questions with many topics such as questions about the sea and islands, Uncle Ho's Will, history, mass mobilization, the army and gathered many documents for students to refer to. In addition, we also directly guided, reviewed lessons and solved questions with the students to help them grasp the issues and confidently participate in the contest.
In addition to supporting students in terms of knowledge, teacher Le Kim Long is also a trusted friend to the contestants. As with Nhat Vy, her phone still stores many messages that the two of them exchanged. Many messages were sent at 2 or 3 am when Vy was tired, stressed or unable to operate the system because of network errors. Behind the hardships of her students, she always encouraged, motivated and always showed absolute confidence in her "special" contestants...

The experiences during the competition, the awards and successes are also the “sweet fruits” that teachers and students of Truong Phan have achieved. That is also the way for teachers and students to once again understand more about Uncle Ho, about Vietnamese history and love and be proud of their homeland and country./.
