“Red Journey” received 500 units of blood in Vinh City
(Baonghean.vn) -On the morning of July 23, at the Nghe An Provincial Labor Culture House, the Nghe An Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee coordinated with the "Red Journey" program to organize the launching ceremony of the "Giot Hong Thanh Vinh" blood donation festival.
Attending the ceremony were comrade Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation in Nghe An province; Mr. Bach Quoc Khanh - Deputy Director of the Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, Deputy of the Organizing Committee of the "Red Journey" program; Nghe An Provincial Red Cross Society, blood donation units, trip sponsors and volunteers.
Comrade Le Xuan Dai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Nghe An province spoke at the ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Le Xuan Dai warmly welcomed the members of the Red Journey in Nghe An, and at the same time highlighted the noble act of donating blood to save lives and the importance of the propaganda, mobilization and organization of blood donation across Vietnam of the Union. The Red Journey program is a thread running through the country. In which, the blood donation festival "Giọt hồng thành Vinh" is a red point full of humanity, full of love, with great propaganda significance contributing to promoting the voluntary blood donation movement in the province to develop more and more. Voluntary blood donation will become a noble act and the tradition of charity "Love others as you love yourself" of the people of Nghe An.
200 members of the Provincial Police Department participated in blood donation.
After the opening ceremony, the “Giọt hồng thành Vinh” Festival organized a blood donation at the hall of the Provincial Labor Culture House. Many volunteers from units and agencies located in the city such as: Provincial Police, Tax Department... participated in donating blood. On the morning of July 23, the Festival received more than 400 units of blood, however, due to bad weather, it is expected to receive 500 units of blood throughout the day.
At the festival, Mr. Bach Quoc Khanh highly appreciated the voluntary blood donation movement in Nghe An in recent years and expressed his confidence in the results achieved by the Journey here.
Thalassemia or congenital hemolytic anemia is one of the most common genetic complications in the world. All patients must have blood transfusions for a long time at extremely high costs, significantly affecting their lives. In Vietnam, it is estimated that there are about 5 million people carrying the disease gene and 20,000 people with the disease needing regular treatment for life, the high rate of disease gene carriers is mainly concentrated in difficult areas and ethnic minority areas. |
Mr. Vi Van Khan (Quy Hop), a patient with congenital hemolytic thalassemia, was moved to thank the noble acts of support, helping patients like him have more will to live.
