'Red Journey' pays tribute to heroic wives and mothers
(Baonghean.vn) - With a noble spirit of sacrifice, the wives and mothers of martyrs in Nghe An have silently overcome irreparable losses, then stood up resiliently, living meaningful lives in the journey to write the heroic history of the nation.
Understanding these sacred values, Nghe An youth have organized many meaningful activities to show gratitude to mothers. After each trip, they feel more mature…
The source of nurturing love for the country
Over the years, the small house of martyr Tran Thi Sam's mother in Thai Son hamlet, Nghia Thai commune, Tan Ky district has always been a familiar address for the young people here. Every time they meet their mother, they get to listen to many touching stories of wartime, where there are not only smiles and victories, but also tears and silent sacrifices. Entering July - the month of gratitude, the mother's house opens its doors again to welcome young people to come back to their mother to cook meals full of love, to help their mother clean up the garden and give her meaningful gifts.

Ms. Thai Thi Hien - Secretary of the Youth Union of Nghia Thai commune said that the mother of martyr Tran Thi Sam was born in 1920, this year she is over 100 years old but is still lucid. She had 3 children participating in the resistance war, but forever lost her son Pham Van Dat in 1972. At that time, martyr Pham Van Dat was only 20 years old and was fighting in the Southern battlefield. At that time, not only the mother, but also many other women in her hometown Tan Ky also lost their husbands and children in the battlefield. Overcoming the pain, the mother tried hard to fulfill her son's unfinished wishes and dreams.

The attention of the local Party Committee, government and young people is a great encouragement and consolation for martyr Tran Thi Sam's mother to have more support to stand up in the loss. This year, as usual, the young people returned to their mother's house to organize meaningful activities together. Although the time with their mother was not much, it brought her a lot of laughter.
In Nam Dan, stories about women who are wives and mothers of martyrs are always a source of sacred emotions for everyone. Following the delegation of Nghe An Provincial Youth Union and the youth of Nam Dan District Police to visit the wife of martyr Le Thi Huong in Hamlet 4, Xuan Lam Commune, we can feel the steadfast and loyal heart of a woman who devoted 54 years to her husband.

Accordingly, Ms. Le Thi Huong (born in 1938), is the wife of martyr Tran Dinh Chat (born in 1943). Going back in time to the end of 1968, at that time, soldier Tran Dinh Chat had participated in the resistance war for nearly 4 years. After being away from home for that long, his unit gave him 20 days of leave. During those 20 days of leave, he fell in love with the girl Le Thi Huong - who had loved him for a long time. At the end of his leave, soldier Tran Dinh Chat said goodbye to his wife, and his family continued to join the fight. Then, in early 1969, soldier Tran Dinh Chat sacrificed his life. At that time, Ms. Le Thi Huong was pregnant with her daughter. "So, father and daughter could not meet each other," she shared sadly.

However, at that time, she did not believe that her husband had died. The belief that her husband was still alive gave her the strength to overcome the pain and raise her daughter to adulthood. Her love for her husband was so great that, 54 years after his death, she still faithfully worshiped him. Her mother-in-law, Mrs. Tran Thi Tron (born in 1922), not only lost her eldest son, Tran Dinh Chat, but also lost two other sons in the following years. Mrs. Tran Thi Tron was awarded the title of Heroic Vietnamese Mother for her immeasurable sacrifice.

Meeting her and talking with those wonderful wives and mothers made the young people in the delegation very emotional. Saying goodbye to her family, Ms. Nguyen Thi Quynh - Head of the Provincial Youth Union's Propaganda Department affirmed that meeting, caring for and showing gratitude to the mothers and wives of martyrs in the province has really changed the awareness of many union members and young people in modern life. The silent and great sacrifices of previous generations have helped them better understand the value of peace and their responsibility to the Fatherland and homeland.
Extend the journey of gratitude
In July, the whole nation respectfully pays tribute to those who have fallen for the Fatherland and remembers the great contributions of mothers who have silently sacrificed for the country's independence. In that atmosphere, Youth Union chapters at all levels in Nghe An province have simultaneously launched many meaningful activities for women and mothers.

Up to now, there have been hundreds of gifts and gratitude meals organized by young people for the wives and mothers of martyrs. In addition, there are also thoughtful visits to ask about their health and encourage the mothers to always live happily and healthily as a spiritual support for their children and the future of the country.
Expressing their joy at receiving the attention of the younger generation, the mothers and grandmothers could not hide their emotions. At the same time, they shared that this visit and encouragement has helped to ease the pain and add joy to life for the mothers and grandmothers in their old age.
That joy is the meaningful source for Nghe An youth to continue to extend the meaningful journey of gratitude, arousing national pride, the morality of drinking water and remembering its source among the cultural values interwoven in today's modern life...
