Tottenham have suffered a major disappointment in the Europa League, where they were eliminated by little-known Gent in the round of 16. However, the White Hart Lane team showed that the shock did not affect them much when they returned to the Premier League.
Facing Stoke City, coach Pochettino did not even change any position compared to the starting lineup that drew 2-2 with Gent in the continental front in the middle of the week. And with the same players, Tottenham entered the game with enthusiasm and then won quickly, deciding the fate of the match in the first half.
Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 14th minute when he took advantage of a sloppy clearance from the visiting defender Shawcross to finish past goalkeeper Grant. Encouraged by Kane's 100th club goal, Tottenham played better and better.

The attacking triangle of Kane - Eriksen - Alli coordinated well, repeatedly causing problems for Stoke City's defense. After a series of missed shots, including Vertonghen hitting the crossbar, Tottenham finally doubled their advantage in the 32nd minute. And it was a masterpiece from Kane when he received Eriksen's corner kick and volleyed with his left foot, giving goalkeeper Grant no chance to block.
Five minutes later, the score was 3-0 for Tottenham from a combination between Eriksen and Kane. The Danish midfielder passed the ball in a direct free kick for Kane to shoot hard, the ball hit the wall, changed direction, leaving Grant helpless.
This is Kane's fourth hat-trick in the Premier League. This striker has surpassed two seniors Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe to become the Tottenham player with the most hat-tricks in this competition.
But Kane did not stop there, in the first minute of injury time of the first half, he again made a strong mark in the situation where the home team increased the score to 4-0, this time in the role of creator. The striker skillfully controlled the ball to get past Martins-Indi and then crossed for Alli to finish close to the goal.
Tottenham's huge advantage in the first half allowed them to play very leisurely after the break. Meanwhile, the four goals conceded paralyzed Stoke City, and the 4-0 score in favor of the home team remained until the end of the match.
Thanks to the three points from this big win, while Man City and Arsenal did not play, Tottenham jumped to second place in the Premier League with 53 points after 26 matches, one point more than Man City and three points more than Arsenal. However, the gap between Tottenham and the top of the table Chelsea is still only 10 points, because Conte's team also won this round, with a 3-1 result against Swansea on February 25.
