Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 34th minute with a powerful header following a free kick from Andros Townsend. The 21-year-old completed his brace in the second half, beating the offside trap and easily defeating goalkeeper Robert Green.
The home team, Queens Park Rangers, pulled one back to make it 1-2 thanks to a goal from midfielder Sandro, but that was all they could manage in the match.
Tottenham's victory in the rescheduled match allowed them to overtake Southampton and climb to sixth place in the Premier League with 50 points. Tottenham are now three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United, a win equivalent to one game's worth of wins.
Tottenham entered their second consecutive London derby after their defeat to Chelsea in the League Cup final last weekend. The visitors seemed to have yet to recover their spirits and were constantly pressed by QPR in the opening minutes.
Fortunately for Tottenham, the home team's strikers were wasteful, squandering numerous opportunities. The most regrettable moment was Charlie Austin's powerful shot from inside the penalty area hitting the crossbar of the Tottenham goal.

QPR's wasteful finishing cost them dearly in the 34th minute. Goalkeeper Robert Green's indecisive rush out allowed Harry Kane to head in the opening goal. Kane's goal helped Tottenham regain their composure and play more fluidly for the remainder of the match.
At the start of the second half, Christian Eriksen had two chances to double the lead, but the post and QPR defenders prevented the Danish midfielder from scoring. It wasn't until the 68th minute that Kane gave Tottenham their second goal. From a seemingly harmless situation, Kane escaped the offside trap to receive a pass from Ryan Mason before dribbling past Robert Green to score.
This was the English striker's 16th Premier League goal of the season and his 26th across all competitions for Tottenham. Kane put behind him the disappointing Chelsea game with an impressive performance against QPR's less-than-impressive defense. Veteran defender Rio Ferdinand was completely outmaneuvered by his younger teammate, despite being tasked with marking Kane in this match.
The defeat against Tottenham leaves QPR stuck in 18th place and facing a clear risk of relegation.
