Man who threw engine oil on pork stall gets nine months in prison

The People's Court of Ngo Quyen District, Hai Phong, sentenced defendants Le Thi Hoa, 31 years old, and Hoang Thi Thanh Dung, 47 years old, both residing in May To Ward, Ngo Quyen District, to nine months in prison, suspended, for the crime of destroying other people's property.

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Ngo Quyen district, while selling pork at Luong Van Can market, Ms. Do Thi Xuyen and Pham Thi Hoa had a conflict with defendant Le Thi Hoa.

Defendant Hoa claimed that Ms. Xuyen and Ms. Hoa brought pork to the market to sell at a low price, so on May 11, defendant Hoa took 100,000 VND and gave it to defendant Hoang Thi Thanh Dung, Hoa's cousin, to buy some used engine oil. Defendant Hoa poured the oil into a plastic bucket and asked defendant Dung to carry the bucket of dirty water to "deal with those unreasonable butchers".

Defendant Dung carried a bucket of dirty water near Ms. Xuyen's meat counter. Here, while the two sides continued to argue, defendant Hoa took the bucket of dirty water from defendant Dung's hand and poured it directly onto Ms. Xuyen's pork counter, causing the 50kg of pork butt, 15kg of pork belly, 3kg of ribs, and 3kg of pork intestines that Ms. Xuyen was selling to spoil.

The incident was then reported to the police by Ms. Xuyen. The authorities assessed the total property damage at 5,640,000 VND.

On May 12, the police investigation agency, Ngo Quyen District Police initiated a criminal case, prosecuted the accused and urgently arrested Hoa and Dung to complete the case file and handle it according to regulations.

At the first instance trial on August 16, after considering mitigating factors, the People's Court of Ngo Quyen District sentenced the two defendants Hoa and Dung to 9 months in prison each, but suspended the sentence./.
