After Brexit, British people find it difficult to travel to the EU
(Baonghean.vn) - Traveling to Europe will become more complicated for British citizens after Brexit, as the European Union (EU) is discussing a new, tougher plan to tighten entry rules into the bloc.

New legislation for the European Union Travel Information and Authorization System (Etias) will require travellers to the Schengen area, which comprises 26 European countries, to apply for a visa.
The plan is part of a comprehensive action plan to stop terrorist groups from sneaking into Europe, as evidenced by a series of serious attacks in Belgium and France.
The European Commission is expected to announce the new rules later this year, according to media reports, which will work in the same way as the US Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).
Accordingly, ESTA requires visitors from countries under the Visa Waiver Program to register online before their trips. After that, US immigration services will decide whether that person is eligible to enter the country or not.
EU officials say a possible solution to the problem could be a similar arrangement to the one Brussels has struck with Norway or Switzerland – countries that are not EU members but are not obliged to apply for visas.
“Such an agreement will certainly be part of the post-Brexit negotiations between Brussels and London, after the UK has become a third country like Türkiye after Brexit,” the EU official added.
European Union officials have proposed a series of moves to boost security, amid the migrant crisis and growing terrorist threat.
Notable among them is the customer information sharing initiative, which requires airlines to hand over passengers' personal information to governments and European Union agencies.
