Post-Brexit: Will the British be poorer?
(Baonghean.vn) - The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) warned on April 27 that British people's incomes will decline if voters decide to leave the European Union (EU) in the referendum scheduled to take place on June 23.

Speaking on BBC radio, OECD Secretary General Angel Gurria said: “The Brexit scenario can be likened to a tax. It is equivalent to each British citizen losing one month of income over the next four years. The estimated cost to each British household per year if the Brexit scenario becomes a reality is £4,300 (equivalent to 5,400 euros).
Mr Gurria also echoed the UK chancellor’s warning this month that Britain would be “poorer” in the long run if it left the EU.
The OECD, along with other international organizations including the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Group of 20 (G20), have warned of the negative impacts that could occur when the British people vote to leave the EU in the referendum at the end of June.

Responding to the OECD's argument, campaigners for Britain to leave the EU described the warnings as "superficial", and stressed that Britain would be successful in the future if it left the 28-nation European bloc.
The OECD is expected to release a report analyzing the impacts of Brexit later today, April 27.
Britain will hold a referendum on June 23 for voters to decide whether to continue being a member of the EU or not after more than four decades of being part of the "common home" of Europe.
Recent polls show that 38% of British people agree with the option of "remaining" in the EU, 34% support the option of leaving while 28% of voters are still undecided./.
