Researchers also found that most women wear the wrong bra size - they think their cup size is larger than it actually is.

Published in The Journal of Female Health Sciences recently, an international team of scientists said they gathered and analyzed the busts of nearly 400,000 women from 108 countries, not including those who had breast augmentation surgery, were pregnant or breastfeeding. Measurements were taken in real life, or checked through 3D imaging.

The results showed that, on average, white American women had the largest cup sizes, often larger than a cup size F - the largest by European standards.

European women tend to have large cup sizes - usually a D cup.

While African and Asian women (especially Southeast Asian) are the smallest, often a size A or even smaller than a size A.

Cup size is calculated by measuring the bust at its highest point (left) minus the bust at its lowest point (right).

In terms of volume, white American women's breasts are also the largest - averaging 1,668 ml. Meanwhile, Asian women's breasts are typically less than 200 ml.

Vietnamese women have an average breast cup size smaller than A, and an average volume of 121 ml (compared to Singapore's 126 ml and Korea's 144 ml).

Filipino women have the smallest breasts in the world (cup smaller than A, volume 111 ml), slightly above Malaysia and Bangladesh.

The team of experts said they had excluded people who had undergone breast augmentation surgery, so the measurements were based solely on natural factors. They also found that body fat had little to do with bust size - people with large breasts did not necessarily have large bodies and vice versa.
