Behind the scenes of 'Zippo, mustard and you'
Actor Vinh Kien, who plays Duy "thoi" in part 1 of "Zippo, mustard and you"oharticle sharing about behind the scenes of the movie.
In early September 2015, the film crew and cast of Zippo, Mustard and Me began moving to Da Nang to shoot the first scenes. The film's settings are mostly famous scenic spots in the Central region such as Da Nang city, Hoi An, Hue...
Seeing beautiful scenes everywhere made the film crew and everyone feel excited. Personally, I think that such landscape scenes not only contribute to promoting tourism but also make the actors feel elated in their performance. Honestly, we seemed to blend into our characters in the film, in the most natural way possible.

Sometimes dizzy due to dehydration
Initially, the crew planned to film 10 episodes of season 1 in just over a month. However, after 3 weeks of filming, due to some scheduling and weather problems (it was the rainy season in the Central region), all the actors of season 1 returned to Hanoi so that the actors of season 2 could start filming in Da Nang.
After finishing the final scenes of part 2 in the Central region, the actors of part 1 returned to Da Nang to complete the remaining scenes of the first 10 episodes.
I still remember the first days of filming in Da Nang, the weather was very hot. Although there was wind, it was a Lao wind, making the sun even more intense. When filming outdoor scenes, the whole crew was very tired.
Every morning, before going to shoot, everyone applied a lot of sunscreen. But it seemed to be no match for the Central region's hot sun. After only a few days of filming, everyone in the crew was visibly dark.
The film also had many outdoor scenes. We constantly had to film scenes of playing, polishing clothes and skating outdoors. There were times when we got sunstroke, dizzy and lightheaded because we were too dehydrated. But we still told ourselves to try our best to have really beautiful shots. There were days when we finished filming and returned to our rooms, we fell asleep without eating or drinking anything.
It was hard work, but now I can watch the scenes in Da Nang, Hoi An, and Hue on screen. I feel that everything was worth it. Of course, besides the heat, there were also storms. Many times, the film crew had to stop filming because of big storms.

Many good scenes had to be re-shot because of... the people.
During the filming of Zippo, Mustard and You, the entire film crew of more than 40 people had to travel a long distance from Hanoi to Da Nang. Everyone did not live separately but lived and worked together, so there were many memorable and interesting memories.
I remember in the movie there were some scenes where Huy, Son, Duy skated but none of the three actors knew how to skate. So, it was quite difficult to balance on the board without falling. In the beginning, Binh An, Anh Tuan, and I had to practice a lot. Whenever we had a break, we would take out our boards to practice, even if we slipped and fell, it was okay.
In addition, there are memories with the local people themselves. When they heard that the film crew was coming, they gathered together to watch very enthusiastically. That is the reason why the work at the filming site took a lot of effort. Many scenes were good but had to be re-shot because they discovered that there were a few locals standing and watching (laughs).
The actors were also constantly surrounded by the audience to take pictures and ask for autographs after each scene ended. At that time, we also felt quite tired. But thinking back, we felt extremely happy because after all, that was the feeling that the audience had for the film as well as the actors. Artists are only afraid that the audience will be indifferent and not care, that is sad.

"Nha Phuong is the same, although she is famous, I find her extremely approachable and friendly with everyone - Vinh Kien commented. |
Nha Phuong is approachable and gentle despite being the most famous
At first, everyone had just met each other, so they were still quite shy in their daily activities and at work. But after a few days of filming, everyone gradually developed a bond through the characters, and from there became more attached to each other.
Actors like me, Nha Phuong, Binh An, Anh Tuan, Kieu My, Hoang Hanh are all around the same age, so during filming, everyone easily became close. Once we are close, the work will definitely have good coordination. Anh Tuan and Binh An act quite naturally and honestly, always helping and inspiring me in each scene of the film.
Nha Phuong is the same, although she is famous, I find her extremely approachable and friendly with everyone. Although we didn't film together much, in some scenes she was always enthusiastic and caring. She also told me the best things, or more accurately, the secrets of acting.
On days off from filming, the actors rented motorbikes to travel, take pictures and eat specialties in Da Nang and Hoi An. Everyone thought to themselves, why not take advantage of the opportunity to travel to such an interesting place with so many beautiful scenes?
In particular, after filming was over, the actors from North and South still kept in touch with each other. When the show aired, we often gathered together to watch and discuss the episodes.
We were the ones who looked forward to it and watched it over and over again. Zippo, Mustard and You are truly a beautiful memory for me and many other actors throughout our lives.
