Revealing the "huge" fees of revolutionary music stars.

August 1, 2012 16:35

Anyone who thought that singers of revolutionary songs were poor would be shocked to know their fees. Each appearance by these "stars" on stage always costs at least 10 million VND, and can reach 50-60 million VND, or even hundreds of millions of VND.

Hundreds of millions of dong for a single singing performance.

The leading "stars" of revolutionary music today include Trong Tan, Dang Duong, and Viet Hoan in the male vocal category, and Tan Nhan and Lan Anh in the female vocal category… These are high-class singers from the National Academy of Music, who adapt quickly to the market and know how to make their voices appealing.

Therefore, while many singers of revolutionary songs struggle to find their place with modest fees, these artists have packed schedules and receive exorbitant fees. These stars, though they don't flaunt designer brands, luxury cars, or million-dollar homes, earn incomes that are not much different from those of pop stars.

According to People's Artist Tran Binh, once a star of revolutionary music went on a tour to perform in another province.
priced from 25 million VND upwards

People's Artist Tran Binh, Director of the Central National Light Music and Dance Theatre, specifically named singers Trong Tan and Anh Tho as among the highest-paid star singers in the North. He stated that the fees for "star" singers of revolutionary songs performing in Hanoi range from 8 to 15 million VND. If they perform in the provinces, the fees are higher, from 20 million VND upwards. Recently, at a festival in Thai Nguyen, a "star" of revolutionary songs received 25 million VND in fees for two songs.

According to People's Artist Tran Binh, this fee is "huge," comparable to that of mainstream singers, but it's not the "peak" figure. Some singers, when directly invited by provinces, command even higher prices.

Because they are "stars," these singers are quite selective about the shows they perform. They usually appear at large, televised events, or at least sing at conferences and festivals. A well-known promoter said that the biggest spenders are businesses that directly invite singers to perform.

Many businesses are willing to spend 50-60 million VND to invite the target audience.
He was known as a "star" of revolutionary music.

"Stars of revolutionary songs might also perform at birthday parties or weddings of wealthy individuals, but the fee would be exorbitant. 'The amount paid must be enough to satisfy their pride. Otherwise, they would never accept. I know of one revolutionary song star who performed at the birthday celebration of a wealthy man's father for a fee of hundreds of millions of dong,' this show promoter said."

"A 'star' of revolutionary music performs twice a month at major events, and then travels to the provinces to perform at smaller shows. In general, they constantly have shows and constantly pocket money," this show promoter added.

Even with a teacher, you have to quote a high price.

For singers, demanding high fees is also a way of ranking themselves. Therefore, once they become "stars," they cannot lower their fees, even to... their mentors. People's Artist Thanh Hoa once opened the Aladin cafe specializing in revolutionary songs. Many revolutionary song singers performed and became famous from this venue. However, Thanh Hoa's Aladin cafe has now closed. "The reason is that even though they were her students, many 'star' singers demanded excessively high fees, and her cafe couldn't handle it. A cafe that lacks 'star' revolutionary song singers... has to close," said a friend of People's Artist Thanh Hoa.

When people learned that Trong Tan and Anh Tho had committed offenses and were suspended from performing, many felt sorry for them. Unlike mainstream singers, revolutionary music appeals to a niche audience. Those who appreciate this genre are people who don't accept singers who become famous through scandals. Therefore, regardless of the punishment, the heaviest price these singers pay is losing some of the affection from their true music fans.
