Revealing the level of 'willingness to spend' of singer Hoa Minzy

Hoa Minzy has just returned to the Vpop race with MVThi Mau.With the desire to promote traditional culture to young people through the Cheo genre and the image of Thi Mau, she collaborated with stylist Khuc Manh Quan to create costumes that are imbued with national identity but still have a modern feel.

Hoa Minzy selected the model from a design competition. Khuc Manh Quan then discussed with the singer and collaborated with the designer to turn the drawing into reality.

MVThi Mauwas made by Hoa Minzy right after Lunar New Year, when many brands and garment factories had not yet returned to work. Therefore, Khuc Manh Quan had difficulty preparing costumes for the 3 days of filming the MV.

The manual embellishment is very laborious, requiring 15 workers to work continuously for 2 days to complete. There was an outfit that Hoa Minzy only received 10 minutes before filming. When she put it on, the outfit did not fit properly, so the stylist helped Hoa Minzy make adjustments on the spot.

In the MV, Hoa Minzy wears 5 outfits, traditional four-piece style but with modern elements. In addition to the four-piece outfit she wore when filming the scene on the bridge, Khuc Manh Quan was impressed with the outfit Hoa Minzy wore at the press conference. Initially, the female singer did not choose this design, but when she tried it on, this was her favorite outfit.

Designer Quyen Nguyen supported Khuc Manh Quan and Hoa Minzy to realize the drawings, choose fabrics, cut, sketch, hand-draw lotus flowers and 100% hand-sewn embellishments.

"Because the costumes are made of thin, light silk and taffeta, there can be no mistakes in the embroidery, so the designer and I had to edit them to both express the design spirit and still be convenient to apply," said Khuc Manh Quan.

On screen, all designs look neat but in reality every little detail needs to be edited. For outfits that are too bulky, the crew removes the skirt part to make it easier for Hoa Minzy to move.

Filming outdoors, the dress's hem easily gets dirty, so the stylist had to send it to the laundry as soon as Hoa Minzy changed, so she could wear it in the next scene.

Working with Hoa Minzy, stylist Khuc Manh Quan was impressed by how professional and "willing to spend money" Hoa Minzy was. The MV was filmed outdoors on cold winter days in Hanoi, the crew all wore thick coats while Hoa Minzy wore sheer dresses and went barefoot.

"Hoa Minzy often says she has her own "craziness". This is probably what helps her wear silk clothes and be exposed to wind and rain for two nights without feeling tired. While everyone else is worried, she only cares about whether the crew is tired or not," Khuc Manh Quan shared.

The male stylist also admired Hoa Minzy's ability to endure pain, considering every situation not an obstacle, as long as the best footage was produced. When wearing a bib with a thin silk neck tie, which was tightly tied around her neck, despite the pain, Hoa Minzy still acted normal.

"Every time the director called cut, I immediately ran out to support the strap so Hoa wouldn't be in more pain. Even though everyone said to loosen the strap, Hoa accepted the pain so that the outfit would hug her body best and look best on camera," the male stylist added.
