Vietnamese clowns win first prize at Circuba 2013.
The Vietnamese clown group, consisting of artists Ta Duy Anh, Tran Manh Cuong, and Nguyen Tien Hung, won first prize at the 6th International Clown Competition within the framework of the 2013 Circus Festival (Circuba 2013) held in Havana from July 16 to 22.
In addition, the Vietnamese clown group also received a special award from the Union of Cuban Artists and Writers (UNEAC) and a certificate of merit from the University of Puebla in Mexico.
Outperforming a series of clown groups from Cuba, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and Italy, Vietnamese artists captivated audiences and organizers with their vibrant performances, combining skillful technical movements with high-quality, artistic humor and wit.
Speaking with a VNA reporter, Meritorious Artist Ta Duy Anh emphasized that although they have performed in many countries and won many important awards, winning first prize at this competition is a great honor for the Vietnamese clown and circus group, and also an opportunity for Vietnamese artists to promote the image of Vietnam and its people to international friends.
Since its inception in 1981, Circuba has annually attracted participation from numerous countries with a strong tradition in this art form. This year's festival features approximately 80 artists from 14 countries around the world.
