Out of money to give his wife for Tet, man cuts his own hand to pretend to be robbed
Having no money to bring home to his wife for Tet, Nguyen Xuan Phu staged a fake robbery, cut off his own hand, and reported the loss to the police of 28 million VND.
This morning, Yen Lap District Police are preparing a case file to handle a fake robbery scene in Yen Lap town, causing public panic.
At around 7:30 p.m. on January 23, the district police received a report from Mr. Phu that on his way home from work in Hanoi, he was attacked by a stranger and robbed of 28 million VND on a road in Mit hamlet, Yen Lap town.

"Phu reported that a subject blocked his way and used a stick to hit him hard on the head, causing him to fall onto the street. The subject then continued to stab him in the stomach and slash his left arm with a knife before robbing him of his money," Yen Lap District Police informed.
The above content has been widely shared on social networks, causing public confusion.
Yen Lap district police quickly conducted investigation activities, examined the scene and determined the victim's injuries.
After 3 hours of investigation, the police determined that because Phu worked far away but had no money to bring home to his wife, he planned to create a fake crime scene, using a razor blade to cut his left arm and the left sleeve to report a robbery in order to hide the fact that he had no money to bring home.
Authorities are consolidating the case file to prosecute Phu for false declaration.
