The effectiveness of the model of linking fishing vessels at sea
(Baonghean) -Supporting each other in production, product consumption, search and rescue... recently, fishermen in Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district have actively linked boats into teams to exploit and catch seafood at sea, creating certain efficiency.
Visiting the family of Mr. Bui Quang Luyen in Thanh Tien village - Tien Thuy commune, Quynh Luu district - owner of fishing boat NA93684 - when his family was preparing for a trip to sea. It is known that fishing is a family tradition. Previously, due to lack of capital, his family only bought small boats, fishing close to shore with little income. Since being encouraged by the fishing association, his family invested capital to buy a large boat with a capacity of 400CV, along with 14 other crew members actively staying at sea. Each trip, his boat earns about 150 million VND, minus other expenses, there is still a profit of about 100 million VND. The average income of each crew member is also 3 million VND. Since participating in the model of linking fishing boats to exploit and catch at sea, his boat's income has become more and more stable and the crew members on board are also confident staying at sea.
Currently, in Tien Thuy commune, there are 13 fleets/352 ships and boats operating under the model of linking out to sea. Previously, when the model of linking ships and boats had not been established, the seafood caught by fishermen often had to be iced and salted, which did not ensure quality and was difficult to sell. Since the policy of "linking ships and boats" of the Commune Fisheries Association, according to which every 3 to 5 ships formed a team, including fishing ships and specialized ships serving logistics, each fishing trip for the southern season of fishermen lasted from 1 to 3 days, and the winter season from 5 to 7 days; fishermen could fish with peace of mind without worrying about transporting products to shore. The most obvious effect of the model was to reduce transportation costs for ships, increase production output and stabilize workers' income. In the first four months of the year, the total seafood output of the commune reached over 4,000 tons, with a total value of over 17 billion VND, reaching 24% of the plan. Mr. Nguyen Van Ke - Chairman of the Fisheries Association of Tien Thuy Commune - Quynh Luu District, said: "Through the activities of the group, we can clearly see the advantages of ship owners connecting with each other, creating favorable conditions in the issue of seafood exploitation, fishing grounds, weather information, updating information on the sea to shore, thereby doing a good job of protecting security at sea".
The effectiveness of the model is clear, however, there are still some difficulties, especially in terms of capital. Some teams, due to lack of investment capital, do not have the conditions to repair and upgrade boats, invest in new jobs, purchase equipment, and boldly go out to sea to find new fishing grounds... In addition, borrowing preferential capital to reproduce or develop local production is also facing many difficulties.
