The effectiveness of the "Warm Home of Love" movement
(Baonghean) Implementing the campaign to build "Warm homes of love" launched by the Vietnam Women's Union, from 2009 up to now, women's unions at all levels in Nghi Loc district have paid attention to building many warm homes, contributing to bringing joy and happiness to members and poor women.
Visiting the family of Ms. Pham Thi Binh, in Tien Lac hamlet - one of the single, disabled, and disadvantaged women who has just received 15 million VND from the Nghi Xuan Commune Women's Union to build a "Warm House of Love" house. In the new, spacious house, Ms. Binh could not contain her emotions: "Without the timely encouragement and care of the sisters, especially the commune Women's Union, she and her children could not have overcome the difficulties and hardships of daily life...".
Ms. Pham Thi Binh - Tien Lac hamlet, Nghi Xuan, Nghi Loc - single woman supported by "Shelter of Love".
Through Ms. Dinh Thi Hanh - President of Nghi Loc District Women's Union, it is known that the campaign to build "Warm Houses of Love" to help poor women, single women and women in especially difficult circumstances has received special attention from all levels of the Women's Union in Nghi Loc district.
Through propaganda and mobilization to understand the thoughts and feelings of women, the campaign was enthusiastically responded by many cadres and members. In addition, the association also actively mobilized businesses and philanthropists to participate in supporting funds. The branches assigned to build warm houses also mobilized members to contribute more working days and funds to help. Based on the spirit, responsibility and kindness of women, the Women's Union of that district boldly built a plan to strive to build 1-2 warm houses each year from the amount of donated money.
After 2 years of implementing the "Warm House of Love" campaign, the whole district has raised 72 million VND for building and repairing houses for women in especially difficult circumstances. In 2011 alone, the District Women's Union supported the construction of a warm house for the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh - Hamlet 9, Nghi Kieu worth 15 million VND, the Women's Union of Nghi Thach Hamlet donated a warm house to Ms. Nguyen Thi My (Hamlet 9, a Catholic woman, disabled with the amount of nearly 12 million VND), the unions at all levels in the district have supported and repaired 25 houses with the amount of 37 million VND and 250 working days.
However, at present, the number of poor women and single women in difficult circumstances in the district is still quite large, many of whom are in dire need of housing support. Grasping that reality, in 2012, the District Women's Union continued to widely launch a movement among women of all walks of life to build new and repair houses for poor women. In addition to the efforts of the union at all levels, the contributions of women's union members need the joint support of the whole community.
