Images of the PT-76B amphibious tank are not lacking in maintenance and training activities, but the space inside its turret is rarely published. Only recently, the Vietnam National Defense Channel has introduced a few rare images inside the PT-76B turret. Photo source: Vietnam National Defense Channel |

Since it was manufactured half a century ago, it is not surprising that the PT-76B lacks advanced fire control systems. Instead, it only has optical sights for the members of the combat vehicle. Photo source: Vietnam Defense Channel |

Thanks to the STP-2P Zarya 2 dual-action stabilization system, the PT-76B tank can accurately fire at targets while on the move. Even when moving on water, the D-56TS cannon can still accurately attack targets. In the photo, the PT-76B tank fires right on the sea surface during the 2016 sea landing exercise. The 7.62mm D-56TS cannon of the PT-76 tank is equipped with many types of ammunition including: BM-354P high-velocity armor-piercing ammunition with an effective range of 650m, penetrating 127mm or 60mm thick armor at a 60-degree angle of impact at a distance of 2,000m; BK-350M high-explosive anti-tank ammunition with an effective range of 650m, maximum of 1,000m; OF-350 high-explosive fragmentation ammunition with an effective range of 600m, maximum range of 4,000m. The D-56TS gun is no longer useful against main battle tanks with armor as thick as nearly 1 meter of steel. However, it is more than capable of destroying light tanks, armored personnel carriers or infantry fighting vehicles that are often equipped for marines of various countries.
