“The rain was so heavy, and the water level around Zhengzhou Railway Station was above my knees. I was stuck at the station for an hour with many other passengers. Even when I found a place to take shelter from the rain, the electricity and water systems there were not working,” said Ms. Wang, a resident of Zhengzhou city.Chinatold the Global Times.

According to statistics from the Zhengzhou Meteorological Bureau, the average rainfall in the city since July 18 has reached nearly 450 mm/day.
Authorities in Henan Province said that heavy rains and floods in recent days have created a 20-meter-long crack in the Yihetan Dam near Luoyang City, creating a risk that the dam “could collapse at any moment.” As a result, a chemical engineering unit of the Chinese military has been dispatched to deal with the flooding and rescue people in distress.
Preliminary statistics from China's People's Daily show that at least 12 people living in Zhengzhou city died in this flood.
