Everton were unfairly conceded a goal in the match against Man City, causing them to lose their ticket to the League Cup final.

In the 70th minute, Kevin De Bruyne scored to make it 2-1, helping Man City equalize 3-3 after two matches with Everton. This goal should have been disallowed, as the ball went out of bounds before Raheem Sterling made the assist. Gareth Barry stopped and did not follow Bruyne because he thought the referee would blow the whistle. But that did not happen.

"Unbelievable is how you describe it when you watch the replay. It was a clear miss. My heart is broken," coach Roberto Martinez said after the match. "I don't think anyone can deny that it was a very important goal, it changed the game."

The ball went out of play when Sterling passed to Bruyne to score.

This was a turning point, giving the home side a confidence boost, leading to the decisive goal just six minutes later. Man City won 4-3 on aggregate over two legs, setting up a final against Liverpool.

"The game was very good and we scored the opening goal. Everton had the advantage and then they scored a goal like that. It's very difficult for us to accept this. Everton played well today, they have a young and talented team. I will consider that the only inspiration after this defeat," the Spanish coach added.

Manager Manuel Pellgrini said Man City deserved the result. "If you think that because of Bruyne's goal we won, that's a mistake. Man City reached the final because we scored three goals and they only had one chance."
