Valencia coach hospitalized after hitting wild boar
Marcelino had to postpone his Christmas party due to an unexpected accident on the highway home.
The announcement on Valencia's homepage reads: "Marcelino Garcia Toral had a car accident early this morning, on his way home to Asturias to celebrate Christmas with his family. The incident occurred on the motorway between Logrono and Bilbao. A wild boar suddenly ran out onto the road and hit Marcelino's car. He was hospitalized but is in no serious condition."

Coach Marcelino has been in charge of Valencia since the start of the season, after leaving Villarreal due to a conflict with the leadership. He is the sixth coach at “Los Che” in just the last two years. Valencia missed the chance to enter the break in second place after defeat at the hands of Villarreal, although Atletico also lost to Espanyol in round 17 of La Liga.
Meanwhile, the fate of the wild boar remains unclear. Wild boars are common in the Iberian Peninsula, but are increasingly threatened by humans. Last month, Spanish authorities launched an investigation into a video showing a group of young men pushing a wild boar off a cliff while climbing the Picos de Europa mountain.
