Coach Hoang Anh Tuan is not satisfied even though the Vietnam Olympic team won the opening match against Mongolia.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Vietnamese Olympic team had a smooth start at the 2023 Asiad, winning 4-2 against Olympic Mongolia in the opening match, however, coach Hoang Anh Tuan is still not satisfied with his players.
On the afternoon of September 19, the Vietnam Olympic Team won 4-2 against the Mongolian Olympic Team, which was a favorable start for coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team at the 19th ASIAD. However, the unconvincing performance of his players made coach Hoang Anh Tuan angry. In the press conference after the match, he said:

"I want to say two things, one is that I am satisfied with the score. Two is that I am very angry about the silly mistakes that led to the yellow cards. I am not satisfied at all. When we were leading by a large margin, some players were in a loose state. I reminded the players a lot before preparing for the tournament, not just this match.
At the beginning or end of the match, players need to be very focused, because mistakes that occur at such times will not be good at all, leading to changes in the outcome of the match. The result of this match can affect the following matches as well."

When asked about his players' performance, the coach of the Vietnam Olympic Team said: "It's hard to say which player I'm most satisfied with. Some players played well, some didn't. I was very upset with the silly yellow cards on the field, so it's hard to say who I'm satisfied with today. I'm only satisfied with the result. We still have two more matches. If they continue to receive cards like that, it's not good. This makes me very upset."
Sharing about the tournament in Hangzhou (China), the strategist from Khanh Hoa added: "This is a big tournament, a great opportunity for the players. The average age of Vietnam is the youngest in the tournament, only about 20.3 years old. I am excited and want the players to clearly feel the influence of this tournament, this will also be a great opportunity for them to mature."

Coach Hoang Anh Tuan was also moved when a group of Vietnamese fans continuously cheered for the team throughout the match: "As for the fans, even though there was only one fan, we still felt like they represented 100 million people. It was surprising to see a group of Vietnamese fans in the stands, they moved the whole team," he shared.
Defeating Mongolian Olympic Team 4-2 in the opening match of ASIAD 19, this victory gives Olympic Vietnam a mental support before entering 2 matches against strong opponents Iran and Saudi Arabia.
In the next match, U23 Vietnam will compete with U23 Iran at 6:30 p.m. on September 21./.
