Coach Kim Sang-sik is satisfied with the performance of U23 Vietnam after winning a ticket to the semi-finals.

After the 2-1 victory over U23 Cambodia to win a ticket to the semi-finals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, coach Kim Sang-sik expressed satisfaction with the performance and fighting spirit of his players.

On the evening of July 22, after the 2-1 victory over U23 Cambodia in the final match of Group B, coach Kim Sang-sik shared some noteworthy thoughts with the media.

At the beginning of the press conference, he expressed his condolences for the tragic incident in Quang Ninh: “Before talking about the match, I would like to express my condolences for the incident in Ha Long Bay. This is a heartbreaking incident. I hope everyone in Vietnam is safe.”

Evaluating the match, the Korean strategist expressed satisfaction with his players' performance: "First of all, I am very happy with this victory. Winning 2 matches in the group stage is thanks to the players and the support of the fans. In the semi-finals, we will meet U23 Philippines. We will prepare well to win"

''Before conceding the goal, we missed many opportunities. Things became difficult. However, we still put our faith in the players," the Korean strategist mentioned about the equalizer of U23 Cambodia.

Commenting on the ability to take advantage of "dead balls" of U23 Vietnam, the coach born in 1976 affirmed: "We have had 3 goals from set pieces, from the central defenders. I hope they will continue to score in the semi-finals and finals. However, I also hope other players will shine."

When asked if he wanted to choose his opponent in the semi-finals, coach Kim Sang-sik expressed his confidence: “We are confident. U23 Philippines is also the away team, so it will be easier than the home team U23 Indonesia. And no matter who we face, we will prepare well to win.”

Finally, he shared about the preparation when facing a team with many naturalized players: "U23 Philippines is a strong team, with balance. We have also analyzed this team. We will try our best." The semi-final match between U23 Vietnam and the best second-placed team, U23 Philippines, will take place at 4:00 p.m. on July 25./.
