Coach Mai Duc Chung: 'Vietnam women's team aims for many important goals'
Head coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that the Vietnamese women's team has made thorough preparations in terms of both strength and spirit, aiming for a 2025 with many important tasks such as the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship qualifiers, the Southeast Asian Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.
Before the first training session of the Vietnamese women's team at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center (Hanoi) on the afternoon of May 6, head coach Mai Duc Chung shared some noteworthy information about the preparation plan as well as key goals in 2025.
According to coach Mai Duc Chung, 2025 is the year when the Vietnamese women's team faces many big challenges, including the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship qualifiers, the Southeast Asian Women's Championship and the 33rd SEA Games.
"We clearly identify this as a pivotal year to build our forces, creating a stepping stone towards higher milestones in the region and continent," Mr. Chung emphasized.

The list of 25 players summoned this time has been approved by the Department of Sports and Physical Training, with the core force consisting of experienced faces combined with promising young players. The coaching staff continues to accompany coach Mai Duc Chung with assistants Doan Minh Hai, fitness expert Cedric Sege Christian Roger and two former national players Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh and Dang Kieu Trinh.

After arriving at the meeting place, this afternoon, May 6, the Vietnamese women's team began their first training session. This is a preparation step for a series of friendly matches in May, starting with a confrontation with the Werder Bremen women's club (Germany), a match within the framework of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany. Before that, the team will have a test match with the Ho Chi Minh City women's club on May 12.

"We will make the most of the 10-day period to improve our physical strength, playing style and create cohesion for the team. The friendly matches are an important opportunity to test personnel, thereby assessing the integration of young players," said coach Mai Duc Chung.
After the first phase of the training session, the Vietnamese women's team will go to Japan for training from June 8 to June 18. Immediately after that, the team will move to Viet Tri (Phu Tho) to compete in the qualifying round of the 2026 Asian Women's Football Championship. Group E matches will take place from June 29 to July 5.

"We aim to pass the Asian qualifiers and prepare the best team for regional tournaments. This is a very difficult task, but we will do our best for the country," coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed./.
