Coach Miura dropped all injured players from the Vietnamese Olympic team.
Cong Phuong, Tuan Anh, Huy Toan... and other prominent names have all been included in the list of players for the U23 Asian Cup qualifiers announced by coach Toshiya Miura this afternoon, March 19th.
In preparation for the U23 Asian Cup qualifiers, coach Miura initially called up 30 players. Later, due to injuries, he added three more.
Following training matches against Hanoi T&T (3-1 win), Dong Nai (1-1 win), and friendly matches against the Indonesian Olympic team (1-0 win) and the Uzbekistani Olympic team (0-0 draw), the Japanese coach finalized the list of 23 players who will travel to Malaysia for the tournament at the end of March.

Accordingly, the majority of players who had to stay home were injured. Specifically, these included Xuan Truong, Hong Duy, Thanh Tung, Van Tien, Tuan Tai, Phuc Tinh, Hoang Lam, Van Thanh, Ngoc Tuan, and Thanh Hien.
Among those dropped were many skilled players who performed outstandingly in the Vietnam U19 team in 2014, such as Xuan Truong, Hong Duy, Tuan Tai, Thanh Tung… Individuals like Phuc Tinh, Thanh Hien, and Hoang Lam all play in the V-League.
Nevertheless, coach Miura still has many options at his disposal. The team's core still consists of familiar names such as Minh Long, Ngoc Hai, Manh Hung, Huy Toan, Tuan Anh, Cong Phuong, Van Toan, and Van Son.

On March 20th, coach Miura and his team will travel to Bangkok to prepare for the friendly match against the Thai Olympic team on March 22nd.
On March 24th, the Vietnamese Olympic team will travel to Malaysia to participate in the qualifying round. In Group I, the Vietnamese team will face the Malaysian Olympic team (March 27th), the Japanese Olympic team (March 29th), and the Macau Olympic team (March 31st).
According to the regulations of the 2016 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers, the 10 group winners and the five best-performing second-placed teams will qualify for the finals in Qatar the following year. From there, the top three teams will be selected to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
