After a thorough examination of Vo Huy Toan, Dr. Nguyen Trong Hien, head of the medical department of the National Sports Training Center in Hanoi, said that this player suffered a relapse of a lumbar spine injury and would need at least two months to fully recover. This means that Coach Miura was forced to remove the Lam Dong player from the list of participants in the U23 Asian Cup finals. The Japanese strategist refused to reveal whether he would call up new players or not.
Huy Toan is Coach Miura's favorite student. He is one of the players that the Japanese strategist has called up to participate in every tournament since he signed a contract with VFF.
“My life is really difficult right now. However, I will not give up,” Vo Huy Toan shared.
Although they have just gathered, U23 Vietnam already has many "wounded soldiers". Ngoc Thang, Hong Duy, Van Dung, Duy Manh, Minh Long all had to see a doctor, but fortunately, these four players' injuries were not serious and only needed to practice separately for about a week.
Vietnam U23 gathered in Hanoi with 30 players. The team practiced at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center and Viettel Center. Coach Miura and his team will have four friendly matches with JFL Selection (December 12 and 14), Cerezo Osaka Club (December 17), and Japan U23 (January 7) before entering the final round of the U23 Asia.
This is the first time U23 Vietnam has entered the final round of the U23 Asian Cup. This year’s tournament will take place in January 2016 in Qatar. Coach Miura and his team are in Group D with Jordan, UAE and Australia.
