“We recognize Japan as a formidable opponent, but that doesn't mean we'll give up. I will do everything I can to help the Vietnamese Olympic team defeat them. At that time, I hope your country can support me, because I fear I may not be able to return home again,” Coach Miura humorously shared with VnExpress. “After 300 days working in Vietnam, I find this place wonderful. The people are sincere and warm-hearted. I hope I can stay in this land for a long time.”
Coach Miura is currently preparing the Vietnamese Olympic team for the U23 Asian Championship qualifiers. In the tournament, which will take place in Malaysia later this month, the Vietnamese Olympic team is in Group I along with the Macau Olympic team, the Japanese Olympic team, and the Malaysian Olympic team.
“After observing the V-League for a while, selecting and working together, I can confirm that this Olympic team has professional quality that is in no way inferior to the national team; the only difference is perhaps age. In fact, the competition here is even better because the team hasn't yet formed a core group, giving everyone a chance, whereas in the national team, many positions are already secure and difficult to replace,” Coach Miura added.

Evaluating Coach Miura after nearly a year of collaboration at various national team levels, the leaders of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) expressed great satisfaction. General Secretary Le Hoai Anh stated: “Firstly, Coach Miura works very professionally. Secondly, he has helped the national teams completely transform their physical condition, always entering tournaments in top form. In addition, the Japanese strategist cooperates very well with the VFF.”
Today, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) signed a one-year sponsorship contract with the Yanmar Group of Japan. Despite having a solid financial foundation, the VFF insisted on not announcing the bonus amount for the Vietnamese Olympic team beforehand. General Secretary Le Hoai Anh only confirmed that Coach Miura and his team would receive a well-deserved reward if they achieved their goal of qualifying for the 2016 U23 Asian Championship finals.
