On the afternoon of June 8, Thanh Hoa FC introduced its new head coach, Nguyen Thanh Cong. Previously, the Thanh Hoa team had parted ways with Italian coach Fabio Lopez due to poor performance after 3 rounds of V.League 2020.

Accordingly, Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong will lead Thanh Hoa from the 4th round when welcoming the neighboring team SLNA. Details and specific terms were not disclosed, but according to the sharing of the owner Nguyen Van De, Coach Thanh Cong is guaranteed full professional rights.

Regarding the reason for inviting coach Thanh Cong, Mr. Nguyen Van De - Chairman of Thanh Hoa Club, shared: "In my opinion, since 2019, I have discussed with coach Thanh Cong to return to lead Thanh Hoa Club, but it was not fate, he was still busy with family matters so he could not accept.

We chose and received high consensus because Coach Thanh Cong is a well-trained, dedicated coach, who grew up from a traditional team like SLNA. On the other hand, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An are located on the same strip of land in the Central region, have similarities in people and personalities, so I believe that everything will be easier to understand each other.

In terms of expertise, Coach Thanh Cong has also led Saigon FC and achieved certain successes. We have full confidence in the new head coach Nguyen Thanh Cong. In the short term, although the time is short, with his coaching ability, I believe that Thanh Hoa's playing style will become more positive, suitable for the abilities of the coach and players."

Currently, Thanh Hoa Club is ranked 13/14 in V.League 2020 after 3 consecutive losses. Coach Nguyen Thanh Cong's debut match is against Song Lam Nghe An on June 12 at home. The Nghe An team is where Coach Thanh Cong used to play and worked for many years in youth training before working at Viettel and Saigon Club.
