Japanese coach: 'U21 Vietnam is superior to U21 Thailand'

That is the comment of coach Ono Shingi of U21 Yokohama when evaluating the strength of U21 Vietnam compared to Thailand.

The match between U21 Vietnam vs U21 Yokohama ended in a 2-2 draw. U21 Vietnam lost the victory in the final minutes of extra time and the two teams will continue to meet in the final match on December 22.

Speaking after the match, U21 Yokohama coach Ono Shingi assessed that Vietnam was much stronger than its opponent, Thailand. He said: "In this year's tournament, U21 Thailand lost to U21 Vietnam in all aspects. U21 Thailand's physical strength was not really good throughout the tournament. Moreover, Vietnam's technical foundation is much better than Thailand's. I feel happy to meet a strong opponent like U21 Vietnam in the final match."

He commented on the match: "In this match, U21 Vietnam played proactively and dominated the entire match. Overall, this was a very good match. The lineup I put on the field was the best, but many players were not in the best physical condition. I had no intention of hiding any cards or leaving out key players.

We will have more attacking moves in the final. My players also learned a lot after this hard-fought draw against Vietnam."

Coach Trinh Duy Quang of Vietnam U21 said: "Thailand U21 has a very weak defense. The Japanese coach's comment that Vietnam is stronger than Thailand is completely correct. Before that, Vietnam U19 held Thailand U21 to a draw, so I don't rate them highly."

He regretted when Ngoc Son received a red card: "If Ngoc Son hadn't received a red card when he had to play with one less player in the last 10 minutes, U21 Vietnam would have won 2-1. But this result makes me feel satisfied when my students showed their best."
