Domestic coach not selected for national team, VFF turns to find foreign coach

The search for a replacement for coach Huu Thang is facing many deadlocks, especially for domestic coaches. VFF is still focusing on faces like Le Huynh Duc, Phan Thanh Hung, Hoang Van Phuc or Hoang Anh Tuan. However, all of them are not interested in joining the national team. Huynh Duc wants a stable job at the club, two former head coaches Phanh Thanh Hung and Hoang Van Phuc have failed, while Hoang Anh Tuan has not received support from Mr. Duc, even though the Vice President of VFF has submitted his resignation.

The difficulty for VFF at this time is that no domestic coach wants to risk his career. As Mr. Duc said, there is no domestic coach brave enough to lead the national men's teams because the pressure for results is always very high.

VFF itself also said that it is difficult to convince domestic coaches at this time. VFF General Secretary Le Hoai Anh said that it is likely that a foreign coach will be chosen to be the captain of the U22 team and the Vietnam national team to replace coach Nguyen Huu Thang.

“All the candidates for the head coach position are foreigners. I am really surprised that no domestic coach wants to sit in the hot seat left by coach Nguyen Huu Thang,” Mr. Le Hoai Anh shared.

According to the plan, on September 12, VFF leaders, the National Coaching Council and professional departments will have a meeting with coach Nguyen Huu Thang to summarize and evaluate the preparation process and competition results of the U22 Vietnam team at the 29th SEA Games. At the same time, at the meeting, VFF leaders and the National Coaching Council will also discuss choosing a new head coach for the U22 and the Vietnam national team.
