Coach Park: "Vietnam needs more time to play like Japan"
(Baonghean.vn) - After the quarter-final match on the evening of January 24, Coach Park Hang-seo praised his players and expressed some regret. The Japanese coach admitted that his team was lucky not to concede a goal.
At the press conference, coach Park Hang-seo shared: "The fact that the Vietnamese team entered the quarterfinals was also very surprising, we did not have much time to rest after the AFF Cup. Today, we showed a good performance against the Japanese team, the championship candidate, and I am very satisfied with the performance of the players. Actually, I am a little disappointed. However, I really hoped for a miracle, but it did not happen so I am a little disappointed", said the Korean coach.
According to the Korean coach, VAR is a technical issue. It should be used right from the group stage and will help referees make better decisions. "Although the referee's decision is correct, I think the VAR issue needs to be handled more accurately in the future," Coach Park commented.

The captain of the Vietnamese team added: "The match with Japan in Indonesia is different from this match, it is not fair to compare the two matches. I think Japan has enough quality to win the championship. I think with the success in this tournament, it will help the infrastructure system serving football and youth football in Vietnam to be better in the future."
At the end of the match, Coach Park Hang-seo smiled and revealed that he was a little regretful about today's match. "It was a smile with a little disappointment about the result. Sorry but I'm a little regretful about this match. After this tournament, I have to immediately start the next campaigns of the Vietnam National Team at all levels so that the team continues to go in the right direction. The major tournaments are the Asian U23 qualifiers and the 2022 World Cup qualifiers."

"The Japanese national team is very different from the U23 team at the 2018 Asian Games. They are completely capable of winning the championship. It will take a long time for Vietnam to reach Japan's level, and it needs to develop step by step. This is the highest level tournament since I led the team. Vietnam cannot be compared to teams like Iran, Japan, Iraq... However, these matches will help Vietnamese players mature a lot," Mr. Park concluded.
Meanwhile, the Japanese coach shared: “First of all, it is good that Japan won and advanced to the next round. I am extremely happy that the whole team kept a clean sheet and secured a place in the semi-finals. I hope Japan will continue to be successful with this method, after keeping a clean sheet against Saudi Arabia and Vietnam. The Vietnamese team showed a lot at the 2019 Asian Cup. They have a young and dynamic squad. They play modern football. Therefore, this match is not easy for the Japanese team."
Coach Hajime Moriyasu praised his players: “Our players played better in the second half. It would have been even better if we had made the most of our chances. I think Japan could have scored more goals. The Vietnamese team played with a brave spirit, they were very passionate and caused us a lot of trouble. Therefore, I am really happy to have defeated them. Today, our players played with concentration, even though we did not score a goal. This will be a better experience for them in the future.”
