According to the information available, the terms for Mr. Troussier to sign a contract to lead the Vietnamese team have now been completed. The Vietnam Football Federation hopes that with this cooperation, Vietnamese football will move towards new milestones, focusing on the 2026 World Cup.

After parting ways with coach Park Hang-seo, the search for a new Vietnamese captain was carried out very urgently. VFF screened the profiles of about 5 candidates, among which coach Philippe Troussier was the most promising.

The most time-consuming issue in the negotiation between VFF and coach Philippe Troussier is the goal of the U23 team and the Vietnam national team. In addition to the regional playground, Vietnamese football is aiming for the World Cup.

VFF and coach Philippe Troussier may hold a contract signing and introduction ceremony at the end of February.

Coach Philippe Troussier will discuss with VFF functional departments to complete the new coaching staff this February. The French coach will also be in Hanoi soon and start working. Coach Troussier's salary will not be much higher than Coach Park Hang-seo's, and the 67-year-old coach himself is willing to reduce his salary because he is excited about working with Vietnamese football.

In 2023, Coach Troussier will be in charge of both the Vietnam National Team and the Vietnam U23 Team. In March, the Vietnam U23 Team will participate in a friendly tournament in Qatar to prepare for the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

The Vietnamese team will also have a training session during FIFA days to evaluate the squad and prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers which will begin at the end of 2023.

If nothing changes, VFF and coach Philippe Troussier can hold a contract signing ceremony and debut at the end of February. VFF leaders affirmed that the head coach replacing Mr. Park is a highly qualified person, knowledgeable about Vietnamese football and aims to build a new, more suitable playing style.

Coach Philippe Troussier was born on March 21, 1955. He has led the national teams of Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, South Africa, Japan, Qatar, Morocco and a series of clubs around the world. In addition to participating in the World Cup twice, he also helped Japan win the 2000 Asian Cup and with the Japanese U20 team won the runner-up position at the 1999 U20 World Cup.
