Coach Philippe Troussier explains why Vietnam lost its second consecutive match
(Baonghean.vn) - Speaking after the second loss of the Vietnam team against Uzbekistan, head coach Philippe Troussier said he was satisfied with the result, especially the defensive situations.
The Vietnamese team continued to have a disappointing performance and left many fans worried. Sharing about the match with the Uzbekistan team last night, coach Philippe Troussier said:
“The opponent is much stronger than the Vietnamese team. That is something everyone knows. Our goal in this match is to focus on organizing good defense without the ball.
The three opponents in October are all strong. In addition, we have to play away. The Vietnam team focuses more on finishing and doing well in defensive control and open situations.

I am satisfied with the system's synchronization and the players' concentration. However, I am not satisfied with the times when the team had to make a transition from no-ball to ball-playing to counter-attack, as well as a few times when the ball was misplaced and easily won back by the opponent."
"Overall, I am satisfied with the spirit and efforts of the players. We have a few days to rest after the last two matches. The players have recovered, learned from experience, and analyzed the situations on the field to best prepare for the match against Korea," the French strategist shared.

After two losses to China and Uzbekistan, both with the result of 0-2, on October 15, the Vietnamese team flew to Korea to prepare for the match against the Korean team.
"Against our opponents Korea, we need to improve and further strengthen our defensive organization in open situations. Against strong teams like Uzbekistan or Korea, I think the team can only control 30-35% of the ball.
The remaining time without the ball must be defensively disciplined. The match against Uzbekistan is a good test for the Vietnam team to understand that the difficulty of the next match will be even higher.
The players must focus more on the moments when we need to defend, and also be more careful about opportunities to create scoring situations," coach Philippe Troussier concluded./.
