"The fact that some Thai players received yellow cards in the tournament is not a problem," coach Gama said after the training session on the evening of March 25. "They understand that they will be suspended for the first match of the final round if they receive another yellow card against Vietnam. But today's match is very important. We will not remind our players to avoid yellow cards, but let everything happen naturally."
Thailand is the host of the 2020 AFC U23 Championship and is certain to qualify, but they still participate in the qualifying round to gain experience. After two matches, Gama and his team are at the top of Group K with six points, ahead of Vietnam on additional points. And although the group stage results do not affect Thailand's participation in the finals, Coach Gama is still determined to win against his rival.
"Vietnam has the home field advantage, with enthusiastic cheers from the audience. But Thailand has played well in the last two matches. The next match will be balanced and both teams need to show their best. Although we are not worried about being eliminated, we still want to win to affirm the strength of Thai football. We entered the qualifying round with the goal of winning the group. But we respect Vietnam and the next match will be very attractive to the fans," the Brazilian coach added.

Thailand had six players receive yellow cards in the first two matches against Indonesia and Brunei. They are Supachai Jaided, Kritsada Kaman, Patcharapol Intanee, Shinnaphat Leeaoh, Supachok Sarachat and Kittipong Sansanit.
