U23 Philippines Coach: ''We have a plan to deal with U23 Vietnam''

On the afternoon of July 24, in Indonesia, before the semi-final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Philippines at the U23 Asian Cup, coach Jason McPherson and midfielder John Lucero had a meeting with the media. Both expressed confidence and optimism about the opportunity to create a surprise against a highly rated opponent.

Coach McPherson said the team is in good spirits and is well prepared for the crucial match. We are fine. In the group stage, we played three games and had a day off. The whole country is behind us, which makes the players happy and excited for the semi-final.

From a team that was not highly rated at the beginning of the tournament, the U23 Philippines has made significant progress. The Australian strategist shared: “Initially, we were among the teams that were underestimated. But with each match, the whole team played more unitedly and more confidently. Being in the semi-finals is great. My players love their country, love football, and they understand that they are receiving great support from their home country. Speaking about the opponent U23 Vietnam, coach McPherson gave much praise to the strength and organization of the "Golden Star Warriors": "U23 Vietnam has many goals from set pieces, always prepares carefully, and has many players who have played for the national team as well as in the national championship.
