Coach Wenger faces FA penalty for foul mouth
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could face FA punishment for his conduct towards referee Neil Swarbrick during the Gunners' defeat to Watford.
According to the Evening Standard, the French tactician chased the referee down the tunnel at Vicarage Road and even entered the referee's room, where a heated argument broke out.
It is known that the English Football Association is reviewing the video recording of the situation in which referee Swarbrick decided to penalize Hector Belletrin for fouling Richardlison, leading to a penalty kick and Watford club captain Troy Deeney successfully taking it.
If evidence is found, the Brazilian player could receive a very heavy penalty for diving. However, if Richarlison did not deliberately dive to miss the penalty, Wenger will also receive a penalty for "speaking out".
Speaking after the match, coach Wenger called the decision ridiculous.
“We were unlucky. The penalty was a bit ridiculous. I think it was a scandalous decision,” Wenger said in his post-match press conference.
