THE SOUL OF PATIYO AND THE 4-TOUCH GOAL
HV.AG caused a major surprise in the first leg against HN.T&T by taking the lead twice, and in this return match, the bottom-ranked team did the same. Throughout the first half, the visitors relentlessly besieged the defending champions with powerful and dangerous attacks. The inspiration and strength of HV.AG came from their new signing, Patiyo – a player recently transferred from V.NB. The presence of this midfielder added strength to HV.AG's midfield and made their attack more dangerous than ever. With the Zimbabwean midfielder, HV.AG completely transformed and played a style of football that was incredibly dangerous.
A surprise came in the 12th minute when HV.AG opened the scoring after a four-touch attack. Goalkeeper Van Hoa kicked the ball upfield, Dinh Hoang Max headed it to Patiyo, who sprinted forward, dribbled past goalkeeper Hong Son, and calmly slotted the ball into the net. A lightning-fast attack and one of the goals with the fewest touches in Vietnamese football history. Patiyo not only finished well but also demonstrated his ability to create chances. In the 24th minute, the newcomer broke through and passed to Felix, who was in a one-on-one situation but couldn't beat goalkeeper Duong Hong Son. At the end of the first half, from a missed clearance by Quoc Long, Patiyo took a quick shot, and goalkeeper Hong Son reacted quickly, diving to push the ball away.
ANOTHER REVERSE REVERSE
HV.AG got off to a good start, scoring the opening goal, but their defense continued to make mistakes, and that was a weakness that HN.T&T exploited to the fullest. In the 37th minute, Cao Sỹ Cường chipped the ball into the penalty area, Samson raced forward before being fouled by Minh Quân, and the naturalized striker himself equalized for HN.T&T from the penalty spot.
In the second half, coach Phan Thanh Hung brought Thanh Luong on to replace Bao Khanh, and the substitution yielded results almost immediately. In the 71st minute, receiving a pass from Hector, Thanh Luong unleashed a left-footed shot from 20 meters, the ball curving past goalkeeper Van Hoa. HN.T&T took a 2-1 lead, and Thanh Luong scored his first goal in the 2014 V-League, much to everyone's delight.
HN.T&T accelerated their attack and had no difficulty scoring. In the 79th minute, Sy Cuong took a tricky free kick, the ball weaving through a crowd of legs before bouncing off the ground and into the net, increasing the score to 3-1. The defending champions' spectacular comeback was completed when Samson sealed the 4-1 victory with a simple finish, completing his brace and maintaining his lead in the top scorer list.
Despite winning against HV.AG, HN.T&T didn't improve their third-place position but narrowed the gap with the two leading teams to 6 points. If they win all three postponed matches, HN.T&T will take sole possession of the top spot and be 3 points ahead of B.BD and Thanh Hoa.
