1.3 billion VND in support for victims of Agent Orange/dioxin.
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 10th, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Nghean province held a meeting to summarize its activities during the first six months of the year, plan tasks for the remainder of the year, and launch a fundraising campaign for Agent Orange victims in 2015.

Currently, the province has approximately 40,000 people affected by Agent Orange/dioxin, of which over 16,500 are receiving monthly allowances as stipulated by the state. In the first six months of 2015, the Provincial Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims continued to conduct a comprehensive survey of the organization and three generations of Agent Orange/dioxin victims, contributing to the resolution of benefits for victims; it also collected 85,000 signatures from victims and some individuals in the province protesting against nuclear weapons. In addition, the association at all levels mobilized 2.3 billion VND to support housing construction, production capital, and to provide gifts and scholarships to members during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year).

In the coming period, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin will continue to do a good job of mobilizing and promoting support for victims. From now until the end of the year, the Association strives to mobilize units, businesses, and philanthropists to donate 2-3 billion VND to support the association's fund; at the same time, it will coordinate with relevant departments to accelerate the process of resolving benefits for Agent Orange victims, ensuring accuracy and fairness; and resolve issues related to production loans for some victim families...

At the conference, the Provincial Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin organized a briefing on Directive 43 of the Central Party Secretariat on strengthening the Party's leadership in addressing the consequences of chemical toxins used by the US during the Vietnam War; and launched a fundraising campaign for Agent Orange victims in 2015.
On this occasion, the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee donated 40 million VND to support house construction for the victims; the Provincial Association provided 1.3 billion VND to support house construction, production capital, and gifts for members in 21 districts and cities on the occasion of the Day for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin on August 10th.
