Support 1,300 billion VND for workers in especially difficult areas in Nghe An

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of August 25, in Vinh City, Comrade Nguyen Lam Thanh - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council had a working session with the People's Committee of Nghe An province on the implementation of Decree 116 of the Government on policies for civil servants, public employees and salaried people in the armed forces working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.

Working with the delegation on the side of Nghe An province was comrade Le Xuan Dai, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

During the 5 years of implementing Decree 116/2010/ND-CP of the Government, Nghe An province has 23 provincial units, 15 district units with 120 communes, including 108 extremely disadvantaged communes and 12 coastal communes receiving support under the Decree.

The total number of beneficiaries is 141,841; of which 97.52% come from commune and district levels; the total implementation cost is over 1,300 billion VND.

Attending the meeting were representatives from units, departments, and branches benefiting from Decree 116 ND-CP.

The implementation of the Decree has helped cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers working in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions in the province to improve their lives. Thereby attracting qualified and capable people to promote economic, cultural and social development and maintain security and order.

In particular, the support policy has helped teachers and medical staff stay with schools and medical stations, improve the quality of work, and gradually shorten the development gap between regions in the province.

Comrade Nguyen Lam Thanh - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Council of Ethnic Minorities highly appreciated the achievements that Nghe An province has made through the implementation of Decree 116/2010/ND-CP.

Besides the achievements, the implementation of Decree 116 of the Government still has some shortcomings and difficulties such as: regulations on criteria to identify particularly difficult communes; determining the scope, area, and beneficiaries of the policy...

Through the conference, comrade Le Xuan Dai - Permanent Vice Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee received the opinions of the Survey Team. At the same time, he clarified the causes and solutions to the difficulties and shortcomings in the implementation of Decree 116. On that basis, he recommended to continue extending the time and expanding the beneficiaries of the policy regime to implement the Decree.

Speaking at the meeting, Comrade Nguyen Lam Thanh - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council highly appreciated the results of Nghe An's implementation of Decree 116/2010/ND-CP. However, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council also noted that in the coming time, the province needs to thoroughly grasp andStrengthen inspection and supervision of the implementation of the Decree at local levels to promptly remove difficulties and problems arising during the implementation process.

In particular, in the coming time, localities need to research and develop criteria to suit practical conditions, avoiding overlap between localities and beneficiaries.
