100% support for waxy corn and genetically modified corn varieties

(Baonghean.vn) – In the 2016 winter crop, Yen Thanh Agricultural Extension Station (Nghe An) built a model of intensive cultivation of HN 88 sticky corn with a scale of 5 hectares on 2-rice land in Tang Thanh commune and a model of 10 hectares of intensive cultivation of genetically modified corn NK 66.BT in Dong Thanh commune.

Farmers growing genetically modified corn and waxy corn are supported with 100% of seeds.

To make the model highly effective, along with technical training, households participating in the model are also supported 100% in seeds and 30% in fertilizer materials, with a total cost of 150 million VND.

For Tang Thanh commune alone, the commune People's Committee also allocated the local budget to support each sao with 150 thousand VND for land preparation by mechanical machines; 20 thousand VND for protection, irrigation and pest control. Households that lend land will receive 30 thousand VND from the commune.

For the corn growing model, the district agricultural extension station has instructed farmers to cultivate at high density using the potting method. Each sao is invested with balanced fertilization of 20 kg of phosphate, 7 kg of urea, 500 kg of decomposed manure and 20 kg of lime powder to improve the soil (or 30 kg of NPK 8.10.3 compound fertilizer) applied as basal fertilizer right from the beginning of the season for corn to grow and develop well, helping farmers improve economic efficiency per unit area...
