Providing 5,494 tons of rice to localities for the Lunar New Year.
On January 23, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Finance to release (free of charge) 5,494 tons of rice to support people during the Lunar New Year and the lean season of 2014 in six localities.

Specifically, in Decision No. 179/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Finance to release 3,580 tons of rice from the national reserve to support famine relief in the provinces of: Son La (2,120 tons), Ha Nam (574 tons), and Dak Lak (886 tons).
In Decision 180/QD-TTg, the Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Finance to release 1,914 tons of rice to support famine relief in the provinces of Ninh Binh (546 tons), Kon Tum (862 tons), and Thanh Hoa (506 tons).
The Prime Minister requested the People's Committees of the aforementioned provinces to use the allocated rice promptly and appropriately to provide relief to the people suffering from hunger. If difficulties persist, the localities should report to the Ministries of Finance and Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs to propose further assistance to the Prime Minister for consideration, ensuring that no one goes hungry, especially during the 2014 Lunar New Year./.
