Support poor fishermen with funds to buy crew insurance

(Baonghean.vn) -The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a support policy for fishermen from now until 2015.

Accordingly, fishermen building new offshore fishing vessels with a capacity of more than 90CV within 12 months will receive a monthly support of 3 - 4.5 million VND. Each cooperative group of 5/7 vessels will receive a long-range communication device with integrated satellite system.

Each poor fisherman and policy family who goes fishing at sea is supported with a life buoy and 50% of the cost of purchasing crew insurance. Fishermen who form cooperatives at sea are supported with 10 million VND. Fishermen who change their occupation from inshore to offshore areas are supported with no more than 125 million VND for the conversion fee. The cost of training captains, chief engineers and fishing crew members is supported with 70%.
