(Baonghean.vn) -The Provincial People's Committee has just issued a policy to support fishermen from now until 2015.

Accordingly, fishermen who build new offshore fishing vessels with a capacity greater than 90 horsepower within 12 months will receive a monthly subsidy of 3-4.5 million VND. Each cooperative with 5-7 vessels will receive a long-range communication device with integrated satellite connectivity.

Each poor fisherman and family receiving preferential treatment who goes fishing at sea is provided with life vests and 50% of the cost of crew insurance. Fishermen who establish cooperatives at sea receive 10 million VND in support. Fishermen who transition from inshore to offshore fishing receive up to 125 million VND in conversion support. 70% of the training costs for captains, chief engineers, and fishing crew members are subsidized.
