'Death hole' on Muong Xen - Tay Son route

(Baonghean.vn) - After being repaired, the landslide on the Muong Xen - Tay Son route has "recurred" again.Revealing a 'death' hole that has existed for more than 4 months.

On the road from Muong Xen town to Tay Son commune, Ky Son district, there is a landslide that is causing concern for road users. The landslide is located at a bend, with an abyss on one side.

According to our records, nearly half of the concrete road surface has cracked, leaving a gap right under the road surface like a “death hole” as deep as the waist, estimated at about 80cm. Half of the road surface has tilted onto the stone embankment on the negative slope.

Grass has grown from the “death pit” and cracks in the road. The rock and soil at the landslide site has also stabilized, indicating that the landslide has been there for many months.

Through discussion, Mr. Vu No Denh, Chairman of Tay Son Commune People's Committee said: The landslide appeared in February 2017 in Huoi Giang 3 village of this commune and is about 5km from the commune center. "We have reported to the district, asking for funding to fix it but have not received a response yet" - Mr. Vu No Denh said.

In September 2015, a serious landslide occurred on this road section, causing traffic to stagnate. The local government then repaired the problem by pouring concrete and building a stone embankment on the negative slope. After a while, the road surface cracked and collapsed. However, the stone embankment remained intact.

This is the only road for Tay Son commune residents to travel to other localities. The rainy season is approaching, the risk of road breakage and isolation is likely to occur. We request that the authorities promptly fix the problem so that Tay Son commune residents can feel more secure in traveling.
