Vuc Mau Lake and 2 hydroelectric plants in Nghe An release floodwaters

(Baonghean.vn) - Due to the impact of storm No. 9, there was very heavy rain in Nghe An, causing Vuc Mau irrigation reservoir and some hydroelectric plants to announce flood discharge.

The influence of grooveTropical depressionWeakening from storm No. 9 combined with strengthening cold air and high altitude easterly wind disturbances, from October 29 to October 31, Nghe An will have very heavy rain with total rainfall ranging from 200 - 400mm/period, especially in the South of Nghe An over 500mm/period.

To ensure operationsflood dischargeNam Mo Hydropower Reservoir is safe according to the reservoir operation process approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the inter-reservoir operation process on the Ca River basin. Nghe An Energy Development Corporation has issued Notice No. 52/TB-EDCNA dated October 29, 2020 on the discharge of water from Nam Mo Hydropower Reservoir.

The factory discharged flood water at 7:00 p.m. on October 29.Discharge from 140 m3/s to 400m3/s (including discharge through spillway gates, sand discharge gates and power generation flow through generators).

On the same day, Nam Mo and Nam Non Hydropower Joint Stock Company issued Notice No. 28/TB-MNNN on water discharge.Ang Hydropower Reservoir. Estimated time of water discharge is at 20:30 on October 29, 2020. Total expected discharge flow is about 200 m3/s to 500 m3/s, including through the generators and through the spillway gates. Estimated time to end water discharge through the spillway: Until the water flow to the lake decreases below 189.6 m3/S.

In Hoang Mai town, Hoang Mai Irrigation Enterprise also announced a plan to release floodwaters from Vuc Mau lake. Accordingly, if it continues to rain, Vuc Mau lake will release floodwaters from 1am to 6am on October 30 with a flow rate of 20-100m3/s through 1-2 overflow gates.
