Vuc Mau Reservoir began releasing water from its spillway at 2 PM on August 20th.

To proactively respond to the tropical depression and stabilize flood storage capacity, the Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise will operate the spillway gates of the Vuc Mau reservoir from 2 PM on August 20th.

According to Notice No. 126/TB-XN dated August 19, 2026, from the Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise, the current water level of Vuc Mau reservoir is at an elevation of +18.11m. In accordance with Official Letter No. 1697/CTB.KT-CT dated August 19, 2026, from the Bac Nghe An Irrigation Company Limited regarding permission to operate spillway gates to regulate and lower the reservoir water level, the unit plans to open 1 to 2 spillway gates.

The expected discharge rate ranges from 5 m³/s to 300 m³/s. The discharge will begin at 2 PM on August 20th and end when the water level reaches the required level.During operation, depending on weather conditions, water inflow into the reservoir, and tides, the spillway gates will be adjusted according to the Vuc Mau reservoir regulation procedure approved by the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

The operating procedures for the Vuc Mau reservoir were issued by the Provincial People's Committee in Decision No. 93/2009/QD-UBND dated October 7, 2009, and amended and supplemented in Decision No. 77/2014/QD-UBND dated October 21, 2014.

The Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise has notified the People's Committees of Hoang Mai Ward, Tan Mai Ward, Quynh Mai Ward, Quynh Thang Commune, Quynh Van Commune, and the Road Management Sub-Department II.2 about the operational plan. Local authorities and units are requested to widely disseminate this information so that agencies, units, and people in the area can proactively respond and minimize potential damage.

Speaking to reporters, Mr. Vo Sy Hong, Deputy Director of the Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise, said that the unit's personnel are still on standby at the reservoir. The unit has sent notifications to local authorities; as of the morning of August 20th, there was no rain in the Vuc Mau reservoir area, however, staff are continuing to monitor the situation to handle any emergencies promptly.
