Businesswoman beauty queen - suspect leading a multi-trillion invoice trading ring
Hong Bang District Police, Hai Phong City, identified the businesswoman who was recently honored with the title of Miss Vietnamese World Businesswoman 2018 as the suspected ringleader of a VAT invoice trading ring worth thousands of billions of dong.

On April 27, Colonel Nguyen Duc Cuong - Head of Hong Bang District Police, Hai Phong City - confirmed that this unit had just fought to destroy a ring specializing in buying and selling value-added tax (VAT) invoices with a scale of thousands of billions of VND.
The police also identified the ringleader as Nguyen Thi Nhung, who was recently awarded the title of Miss Vietnamese World Businesswoman 2018.
The chain of establishing a series of "ghost" companies
According to investigation documents, from the end of 2017 to the beginning of 2018, in Hong Bang district, Hai Phong city, a series of companies registered to trade in relatively high-value items, specifically: Hai Nguyen Viet Company Limited, Tuan Ha Trading Development Company Limited, Phuc Tra Trading Service Company Limited, Tuan Phat Trading Development Company Limited...
Noticing unusual signs, detectives investigated and discovered that although these companies had headquarters and transaction points, they were not operating and did not have goods as registered.
After more than 3 months of surveillance, the investigators initially determined that the above companies were all businesses established to illegally buy and sell VAT invoices.
Based on the initial collected documents, on March 14, Hong Bang District Police decided to establish a special project coded 418K and assigned the Economic Police Team as the core to continue collecting documents and fighting to eradicate the above "ghost" companies.

After further investigation, the detectives determined that this criminal ring was led by a woman who specialized in organizing and establishing companies to obtain legal status to print invoices and then buy and sell them in large quantities.
Accordingly, the leader of this line was identified as Nguyen Thi Nhung, 40 years old, residing in An Bien ward, Le Chan district, Hai Phong city. This person hid under the cover of the director of a joint stock company, and was recently crowned Miss Vietnamese World Businesswoman 2018.
The media described the contest as being held on a 5-star cruise ship passing through three countries: Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, and the judges being famous artists.

According to Colonel Nguyen Duc Cuong, after many months of secret struggle, the investigation team now has the basis to identify the links in the above mentioned criminal ring, in which Nguyen Thi Nhung is the ringleader.
Following this subject are a series of people who play an effective supporting role. Among them, Vu Thi Anh Tuyet (43 years old, residing in Le Chan district, Hai Phong city) plays the role of contacting and transacting with customer contacts. Tran Thi Minh Thu (37 years old, residing in Ngo Quyen district, Hai Phong city) is the person who orders the printing and writes the contents on the VAT invoices and signs and stamps Hai Nguyen Viet Company Limited...
Nhung's "seasoned" method of operation to deal with the authorities is shown through the fact that this subject only assigns work to individuals in a single-line operation, each person knows their own work.
The investigation agency determined that the subjects had set up a total of 17 "ghost" companies and sold a huge amount of invoices and documents with initial estimated sales of up to 1,500 billion VND.
With the collected documents and evidence, up to now, the Hong Bang Police Investigation Agency has decided to prosecute the case of "illegal purchase and sale of invoices", temporarily detaining Vu Thi Anh Tuyet and Tran Thi Minh Thu to serve the investigation and expand the case.
At the same time, the Hong Bang District Police Investigation Agency also called on Nguyen Thi Nhung to surrender soon to enjoy leniency under the law.
