According to the beauty website Missosology, in an email sent to National Directors on August 6, the Miss Universe organization announced that it will begin accepting married women or women with children to participate in the contest, starting next year (2023).
“From the 72nd Miss Universe pageant and the national pageants to which they are sent, married women, as well as women who are pregnant or have given birth, can compete,” the organization said. “We believe that women should have the right to make their own decisions about their lives and that their personal decisions should not be a barrier to their success.”

A representative of the Miss Universe Vietnam Organizing Committee said they need to carefully consider applying the new changes of Miss Universe to the domestic competition. |
Mr. Tran Viet Bao Hoang - representative of the Organizing Committee of Miss Universe Vietnam said that they had received information about the above change from MUO. He shared his opinion: “After many seasons of organizing Miss Universe Vietnam and accompanying Vietnamese representatives at the Miss Universe contest, I realized that MUO always looks for a girl who is both beautiful, confident, has life experience and an inspiring story. They exude purity and naturalness. The new message of the contest says it all: Beautifully Confident. Therefore, if Miss Universe Vietnam also allows married girls with children to compete like Miss Universe, in my opinion, those are interesting unknowns, the contest will have more potential contestants and many special stories”.
The above change makes many people wonder: will the Organizing Committee of Miss Universe Vietnam search for contestants according to the new standards from the Miss Universe World organization? In response to the above question, Mr. Bao Hoang expressed: “To apply these innovations to the Miss Universe Vietnam contest, we also need to consider carefully because we must comply with the regulations on beauty contests according to Vietnamese law and above all, in each country, the audience's tastes are also somewhat different. On the other hand, Miss Universe expands the contestants, which does not mean that countries are forced to follow and accept the new regulations. Each country has different regulations on choosing beauty queens.”
